SERVICES PROVIDED AT THE FWB TRAINING CENTER AND THE SATELLITE CENTER:
Resource Library: The resource library is available to all early childhood professionals. The library consists of videos, books, magazines, and resources on the subjects of curriculum, guidance, professionalism, program management, health & safety, infant/toddler, preschool, school age, children with special needs, family child care and working with families. There is a $10.00 annual fee for the Fort Walton Beach Resource Library, and fees maybe charged for overdue and damaged materials.
We house the following equipment for your convenience:
TV/VCR to view videos in house, Overhead projectors, Laminator (25”wide), Copy machine, Die cutting machine, Book binder, Fax machine and Button maker. Some charges apply for supplies. Computer with internet access for early childhood research, program and professional development.
** Sub-Contracted Centers and Family Child Care Homes receive 35 feet of laminating FREE and 600 copies FREE a year. Please tell the center staff that you work at a sub-contracted center.
THESE FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE FWB TRAINING CENTER:
Training Room: Many classes and workshops are held in the training room for child care providers. Special arrangements can be made to use the room during normal working hours.
Parenting Section: The Parenting library began with a $250 grant from the Family Resource Program. Books and bookcases were purchased. Though out the years, videos and books have been donated from a variety of programs and library members.
Children’s Storybook Section: The children’s book section contains books for children at all reading levels. There are books for parents to read to children from birth to twelve years old. Many special topics such as adoption, divorce in the family, pet dying, etc. are found in our collection.
Toy Shelf Section: The Toy Shelf library is filled with a variety of toys for children birth to twelve years old. Children need love, guidance and encouragement. The toys available for check out will encourage exploration and help stimulate physical, cognitive and social development. The Toy Shelf was developed to help parents and providers enrich children’s lives through play and developmentally appropriate activities.
DCF Child Care Training Classes are offered at the OWCCS Education and Training Center in FWB.
